ingredients
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 cup white flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2teaspoon soda
Directions
- Cream together shortening and sugars
- Beat in egg, water and vanilla essence
- Combine the oats, flour, flour and soda together and mix with the sugar-shortening mixture
- Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 °F preheated oven for 12-15 minutes
- Cool completely on racks and don't eat too many!
