Ingredients:
Sashimi tuna 200 g (7 oz)
Japanese soy sauce 1 tsp
Sesame oil ¾ tsp
Very finely minced spring onion (scallion) ½ tsp, use white part only
White radish (daikon) 3-cm (1½-in) slice, peeled
Green apple 1
Grated fresh wasabi 2 tsp, or 1 tsp wasabi paste
Finely grated lemon zest 1 tsp
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Japanese mayonnaise 1 Tbsp
Method:
1. Cut tuna into small dice and transfer to a bowl. Mix with soy sauce, sesame oil and spring onion and refrigerate, covered.
2. Slice radish very thinly, then stack slices and cut into matchsticks.
3. Quarter and core apple, then cut into thin slices. Stack slices, reserving a few for garnishing, and cut across into matchsticks.
4. Mix wasabi, lemon zest and juice and mayonnaise together in a mixing bowl, then add radish and apple and toss well.
5. To serve, arrange tuna tartare and wasabi slaw as desired on serving plates and garnish with reserved apple slices. Serve immediately.
