Meatballs in tomato sauce

Ingredients:
Minced beef 450 g (16 oz / 1 lb)
Soft bean curd 150 g (51/3 oz), mashed
Egg 1, beaten
Onion 1, peeled and finely chopped
Garlic 2 cloves, peeled and finely chopped
Chopped parsley 1 Tbsp
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper to taste
Cooking oil 2 Tbsp


Sauce:
Tomato sauce 500 g (1 lb 11/2 oz)
Water 435 ml (14 fl oz / 13/4 cups)
Onion 1, peeled and cut into cubes


Method:
1. Combine all ingredients except oil and sauce ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well. Shape into balls about 4-cm (11/2-in) in diameter.

2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and over medium-high heat. Fry meatballs until light brown all over.

3. Combine tomato sauce and water and pour into pan over meatballs. Add onion and simmer for at least 20 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve warm.
